Whether She’s Chairing a Fundraiser
or Handling Clients’ Investments,
Jody Korman Dives Right In!

Ask local businesswoman Jody Korman where she’d most like to be in the world and she’s likely to tell you this: 30 feet below the surface, in the crystal-clear sea off Grand Cayman Island, petting a grouper as if it were a cat. In such a setting, you’d find Jody immersed in pleasure as deep as the turquoise Caribbean, clear in her mind that there’s nothing she’d rather be doing than scuba diving in this little piece of paradise, surrounded by giant sea turtles, manta rays and other creatures of the watery deep.

Jody knows how important it is when buying or selling your home. That's why she focuses on every detail of your transaction.

Jody’s passion for diving and water sports is clear to anyone who knows her. Friends and family also can attest to the way she “jumps right in” when it comes to other passions, most notably charitable projects and professional endeavors. As far back as her college days, when she was earning a degree from Virginia Commonwealth University with a major in finance and a minor in math, Jody plunged into extracurricular activities as a member of the math club, swim team and Sigma Chi Omega Sorority. In her proudest moment, she served as co-chair of the university’s first dance marathon to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and succeeded in amassing thousands of dollars for this worthy cause.

Plunging into Business
Jody took her unbridled enthusiasm for making things happen into the corporate world when she worked as a stock trader and analyst for several prominent securities firms. Her results-oriented nature kicked into high gear when she accepted responsibility to raise funds for United Way while working as a computer programmer at NationsBank. In addition to designing the financial institution’s MIS system and debit card product for cardholder services, this spirited professional made 56 presentations in three months, motivating employees to contribute $265,000—20 percent over the campaign goal.

The long list of accomplishments Jody has wholeheartedly plunged into also includes the transformation of Richmond’s YMCA, from a 1,000-square-foot storefront to a fully equipped 13,000-square-foot community resource, undertaken while serving as its Executive Director. Spearheading fundraising, she was the energizing force behind a campaign that yielded $1.4 million in grassroots support.

In addition to measurable expertise in the real estate field, Jody brings charismatic energy and a “can do” attitude to the table.

Coming Up for Air
When she’s not working with her real estate clients, Jody is as serious about community involvement and play as she is about work. As president of the Kiwanis Club of Ashland, she became the first woman to hold office in this 80-year-old service club. She still enjoys teaching water aerobics at the “Y” and always makes time for jogging, hiking, skating and walking, sometimes with her husband, Bruce. At home in Glen Allen, the couple enjoys spoiling their four cats.

Diving into Real Estate
Nowhere is Jody’s enthusiasm for setting a goal and diving right in to tackle it head on more apparent than in her successful real estate career. With her background in finance, she is skilled at negotiations and working with numbers, and can effectively help sellers evaluate offers. For buyers and those relocating to Richmond, her in-depth knowledge of the area and its many attractions—gleaned from over three decades of residency—is an asset in providing information about schools, services and recreational amenities.

In addition to her measurable expertise in real estate, Jody offers every buyer and seller a superior level of energy, along with a passion for helping them turn their dreams into reality. Add her playful sense of humor and zeal for making things happen and you can be confident about the smooth flow of your transaction with Jody on your team. When you’re serious about making a move in Greater Richmond or just seeking information about the area, take the plunge and call the professional with a reputation for Diving In for Great Results.
